The King of France

Tevye and Saarah have this delightful game, where they take everything they can find, line the items up, end-to-end, and pretend they’re a road. Then they drive their cars all over this road. Once the cars have reached the other end, they will go and get pieces from the beginning of the road, and add them on to the end. One might be inclined to think that it would make more sense to create a loop, thereby negating the need to be continually doing road construction, but you’d be wrong. Clearly building the road is half the fun. It’s like when you play with Lego, who actually plays with the things they make? Nobody, that’s who. If you do, then as far as I’m concerned, you’re weird. I tried it once, just to see what it was like, but it wasn’t very much fun.

Yesterday while I was busy making supper, they were on the floor behind me, building a network of roads that would make the Romans jealous. Tevye had chosen his Lightning McQueen car, and was speeding through the course, making a great deal of racket.

When he arrived at the end of the course, Tevye announced that Lightning McQueen was now The King of France.

What a goo-gone.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why these pictures, which appear to have nothing to do with the content of this post, were chosen, it’s because they were hilarious, and nothing more. I asked the kids to smile nicely for a picture, and this is what I got.

I was sure that the “King of France” was going to have something to do with “underpants” (since they rhyme) but alas, I was wrong. Still, funny how they build those roads….
